About SCR Swim Team

The Swim Association Invitational League (SAIL) is the governing body of Greenville’s summer swim team program. This program is one of the largest of its kind in the United States, with approximately 2,500 swimmers and 30 teams. Since its beginning in 1964, SAIL has worked diligently for the community to embrace and encourage all levels of swimming.  Having fun as a team is at the center of all activities. Watch the Greenville News for great coverage of the SAIL League! For more information about SAIL refer to www.swimsail.org.

The teams are placed in six divisions according to size and strength. The divisions are designated by color: Red, Purple, White, Blue, Green, and Gold.

SCR proudly reigns as the 2006, 2007, and 2008 Red Division Champions! In 2011, SCR won BOTH the Quality and Quantity points to win the Red Division Championships and won the Quality points in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018.

Swimmers from Sugar Creek homeowner families and families who join Sugar Creek Community pools as outside members are eligible to join the Sugar Creek team.

Volunteer parents serve on the Board, represent the team at SAIL meetings, and organize the season’s activities.

Based on age as of May 31st of the swim year, there are five “Shark” age groups for boys and girls: 8 & under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18.

There are five regular season meets plus a Divisional Meet. Swimmers that qualify may also participate in Championships and Classics meets.

Guppies is a training program for beginner swimmers who are 4 & older as of May 31st. Guppies must want to swim and be comfortable in the water. Guppy swimming should not be mistaken for swim lessons. Guppies and any new 8 & under swimmer will be assessed by the coaches during the first week of practice. A date will be assigned for this assessment the night of the New Parent Meeting.
